Jim
was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa where he first learned
to play the guitar at age 9. At the age of ten, his father moved
the family to northwestern MN where Jim went through his teens
and early 20's performing in high school and college plays and
musicals. His first gig was playing at a middle school dance. In
the mid 80's Jim began playing bass for a group called "Saddletramp".
In 1987 he was called to fill in for the group "Back behind the
Barn Boys" and was asked to join shortly thereafter. In 1990, he
joined a group named "Burbank Station" out of Fargo; which
became "Buffalo Alice" in '92. They were then hired to become
the house band at the "Mississippi Live" complex downtown
Minneapolis until it closed down in early '94. Buffalo Alice then
became the house band at "Gatlins" in
the Mall of America. After Buffalo Alice broke up, Jim took a few
years off and then joined the group he is currently in now "SO
BIG". He's been a radio announcer, commercial spokesperson, and
jingle singer throughout his career and has also done live and
studio recordings for the groups named above and for others.
